Metallurgy Engineer

Essential Responsibilities:

1. To create and optimize HT process for quality and efficiency.

2. Develop and maintain documentations of heat treat standardized work, quick setup, and operation balance, PFMEA etc. to optimize the productivity, equipment utilization and improve product quality.

3. Develop and manage heat treat tooling, program for new launching products

4. Develop new product Heat-treatment. Setup, validation and maintain process parameters/programs on heat-treatment machines. Support to maintain fixtures, equipment.

5. Lead or participate in on-line problem solving activities utilizing defined analytical methods. Work closely with Production (management, team leaders, and operators) to identify issues and/or opportunities for improvement proactively, and drive actions to resolve or improve.

6. Lead heat treat process changes or introduce engineering changes with the guidance from Product engineering.

7. Work closely with Quality on quality issues to enable problem resolution and fast response.

8. Support CQI-9 and other metallurgical audit.

9. Lead/support heat treat related CI and process improvement project.

10. Evaluate annual heat treat tooling expense and capital projects for normal products. Make sure the expense and capital are under control initiatively.

11. Provides technical expertise for further deployment of induction hardening.

 

Position Requirements:

1. bachelor’s degree in metallic material Engineering.

2. With 3-5 years Manufacturing experience, has experience in induction harden is preferred. 

3. Good written and spoken English skill are required.

4. Strong communication skill and team spirit.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure the requirements of the Timken Metallurgical Process Specification are contained in our system of control plans, procedures and work instructions.
  2. To be sure the associates in the control plan have the required knowledge and competence to respect the metallurgical process specification
  3. To ensure the equipment exists and is well maintained to be able to perform the control inspections listed in the control plan
  4. To execute the incoming material control plan
  5. To execute the Heat Treatment Process control plan
  6. To execute the Process Fluid Control Plan
  7. To evaluate the welding process and operator certification
  8. To maintain all process records to prove that we respect the control plans and that we have traceability of our product
  9. Met Lab spare parts and consumables plan.
  10. New equipment and current equipment WI issue and update.
  11. Perform various metallurgical analyses, such as failure analysis of returned bearings and micro structural interpretation.
  12. Work with process engineers to optimize HT process for quality and efficiency.
  13. Support induction hardening metallurgical inspection related work.

 

Position Requirements:

1. 3-5 years experience making metallurgical decisions in a production environment;

2. Able to demonstrate decision making and problem solving experience;

3. Self-starting and able to work on his own to finish an assignment;

4. Drive to get the job done;

5. Communicates well with customers, suppliers and plants with tact.
