 Purpose :
This position exists to support direct and indirect functions and activities in the prototype department to permit the production of products and services to achieve department and company goals. The current emphasis is on Tool grinding.


As a Master Prototype technician you will : 

  • Perform machine set ups and operations in the following areas of Prototype: Tool grinding, finish grinding, machining (CNC & Manual lathes,  CNC & Manual mills, CNC Wire cutting), forming (stamping), inspection or other prototype operations.
  • Design, modify or build components or tooling as part of projects. Additionally perform specific tests, inspections, and/or standard or predetermined analysis on projects. Maintain records and report data accordingly. Makes independent decisions necessary to complete duties.
  • Work instructions and tasks are usually given from supervision or engineering. They can be specific or broad assignments.
  • Knowledge of computers required (including CAD, Mastercam, Unigraphics or other appropriate programs).
  • Offline programming knowledge (use of CAM systems).
  • Ability to measure and calculate with use of micrometers, gauges, and other hand tools.
  • Work as a member of a team under supervision of leadership to meet on-time delivery goals and to provide necessary assistance to meet customer demands. Assist in training employee on applicable processes, tasks and operations.
  • Participate in current quality systems, calibration, and audits. 

 

Minimum qualifications :

  • High School Diploma and at least 20 year's of experience in a mechanical trade or associates degree with at least 15 year’s of experience in a mechanical trade
  • Apprenticeship or other Technical training program in mechanical trade preferred
  • Recent 5 years expereicne in Tool grinding
