Job Summary:

The position of Manufacturing Engineer exists to support the mission of the Timken Aurora Bearing Manufacturing Engineering team and associated business plan objectives. The primary customers of this position are manufacturing and assembly operations.  Additional customers include Quality, EHS, and Maintenance departments.  Typical functions of this position include support, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes; design and assignment of tooling; creation and support of work instructions, programs, and gauging. 

Job Responsibilites:

This role requires strong technical competence and recognition as subject matter expert in multiple manufacturing methods and/or systems.  In this role, as technical expert, the associate must function both as a strong contributor as well as a mentor to developing associates.  This individual shall be capable of diagnosing and solving challenging manufacturing problems using a structural and analytical approach.  Knowledge of command and current engineering tools and systems such as CAD/CAM software and MS Excel is a must.

Technical Functional Skills:

1. Must be able to use computer assisted engineering, clerical and design software to perform analysis and layout to meet objectives

2. Work with product engineering to develop part configurations in the most cost effective and manufacturable forms

3. Work with the quoting department to develop and review process steps, tooling needs, cycle times, etc., to generate costing data for both new and   existing parts

4. Communicate and work with suppliers to ensure reliability and cost effectiveness of outside processes

5. Develop, review, and maintain process steps in the form of routings on a regular basis to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness

6. Develop or review process steps for Sales Order Checklists

7. Develop, review, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, setups and fixtures, cycle times, etc., and provide training and support for the production floor as applicable

8. Evaluate, recommend, and test machinery/equipment for process implementation and capability

9. Determine rework methods to salvage non-conforming parts

10.Support CNC machines with programming, troubleshooting, and DNC library management

11.Use root cause analysis to resolve safety, manufacturing, and quality issues

12.Develop and assist in the development of quality procedures, ABPS specs, setup plans, and setup cards

13.Employ lean manufacturing concepts as applicable when developing processing methods

14.Organize and maintain records to document continuous process improvement efforts

15.Present various proposed projects to a variety of people as required

16.Serve on various committees to represent Manufacturing Engineering

17.Assist with the design and fabrication or prototype parts

18.Perform other assignments as directed by supervisor


Minimum Requirments:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Three year experience in a manufacturing environment
