The Quality Manager is designated as the management representative for the facility regarding Product and Quality System information and is the primary point of contact at the plant for external and internal customers and suppliers, marketing, quality and technology groups. This role monitors and improves compliance with all customer requirements, deploys and launches new products, responds timely and appropriately to customer quality issues, and supports all processes related to the quality management system. This role also provides leadership for all plant activities associated with the quality functions and systems; ensures adherence to the quality policy, deploys processes to ensure product quality standards are achieved, reduces quality escapes, maintains quality certifications, and manages the cost of quality.

 

- Ensure that effective processes are deployed throughout the plant (the quality management system) to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize non-conforming product.

- Assume full technical responsibility for interpretation of quality standards and Customer-Specific requirements. Manage all product and process audits to ensure compliance in all processes. Examples of these audits include ISO9001/IATF16949 assessment audits, customer audits, internal quality audits, outgoing quality audits, international bearing performance audits, etc.

- Report to plant and senior management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.

- Talent Management: Provide leadership and direction to associates including development of a high-performance team, talent & succession plan development (TMP), performance management, coaching, mentoring, training, resource/business planning, standards and processes. Plays a key role on the plant leadership team.

- Lead Management Team in review of plant quality metrics and promote the use of structured problem solving techniques and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement in all areas of the plant.

- Promote awareness of business and customer requirements throughout the organization.

- Manage business processes associated with product and process launches ensuring customer requirements are satisfied and APQP processes are followed

- Manage business processes associated with product and process changes impacting the customer, including customer notification and ISIR/PPAP requirements.  Ensure the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes are planned and implemented.

- Lead efforts to improve customer satisfaction related to product quality and performance; including thorough and timely responses to customer complaints, understanding customer quality system requirements and developing systems to satisfy those requirements.

- Conduct structured problem solving to ensure production and quality issues are addressed and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner

- Oversee the quality performance of certified suppliers and vendors.

- Coordinate and implement the required controls and improvements to drive down defects and the cost of quality (i.e. audits, process capability, SPC, etc.).
