Purpose : 

Are you committed to driving sustainable growth within an organization? The Timken Company, a leading company with an annual sales revenue of $4.8 billion, is seeking a Product Compliance Specialist to join our Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety team at our headquarters in North Canton, Ohio.  We continue to focus on improving our operations and deliver more efficient and sustainable products to our customers.

 

The Product Compliance Specialist will help ensure that our products comply with relevant global regulations, industry standards, and directives (e.g. RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, etc.)  In addition to customer expectations relating to chemical composition, energy efficiency, eco-design, safety along with labeling, packaging, use and disposal of our products.   

 

Essential Responsibilities of this position:

  • Analyze and interpret complex global regulatory requirements to determine their impact on product design, development, and marketing.   
  • Lead committees (e.g. PFAS Committee) to evaluate the impact of standards on our business and develop plans to comply.
  • Develop an understanding of Timken products, the components used to make our product along with its use and any consumables that will remain on the final product.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify compliance risks and implement corrective action processes to mitigate associated liabilities.
  • Lead collaboration efforts with internal teams such as product development, design, manufacturing, sourcing, and legal to ensure that compliance requirements are integrated into all stages of the product lifecycle. This includes providing guidance on compliance issues and facilitating communication between different departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of product compliance activities, including test reports, certificates, and other documentation required by regulatory agencies to generate and communicate KPI reports.  
  • Engage with external stakeholders, industry groups and regulatory agencies to better understand expectations and approaches to adhering to them.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to customer inquiries collaborating with customer services/Sales to convey requested information, including product certification and compliance documentation.
  • Oversee/complete regulatory reports associated with product compliance.
  • Develop/manage a system to collect and store product documentation such that it is current, easily retrieved/referenced, and organized to allow for simplified reporting. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree program in Engineering or Science - Environmental, Chemical, Biology, or a related field with 10+ years of relative experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)

Strong written and oral communication skills
