Position : Manager - Network

Purpose -

  • As a manager – Network in the IT organization, this position is responsible for maintaining and improving performance, reliability, and availability of global data and voice network.
  • This position provides cross-functional leadership to identify, prioritize and solve major IT infrastructure issues related to data and voice network effectively and efficiently.
  • This position manages projects involving acquisition integration, business system upgrades, and infrastructure changes, including management/coordination of IT resources and contractors.
  • This position has global role for architecting, delivering, and supporting Network data and voice area.

 

Essential Responsibilities -

  • Provide strategy, direction and support for data and voice network technology.
  • Serve as Network infrastructure lead for multiple IT projects including but not limited to IT infrastructure, new company integrations etc.
  • People management - Provide coaching and mentoring to Network team members, as necessary, to enhance global IT infrastructure competencies.
  • Proactively assess and provide recommendations for improvement in technical portfolio, tools, and processes to drive Network infrastructure maturity.
  • Vendor Management - Manage vendor relationships and associated service management agreements.
  • Operational excellence - Oversee daily operational tasks and provide support to global customers. Make sure to manage and keep a track of all high priority tickets till closure.
  • Disaster Recovery – Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to oversee network area disaster recovery efforts and ensure that the DR test is completed annually according to the plan.
  • Budget Management – Responsible to develop and plan network area budget for corporate data center. Make sure to execute the network Infrastructure efforts as per the budget and timeline plan.

 

Technical/Functional Skills -

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in support of Network and network architecture design.
  • Good knowledge on Cisco Data Center products (Nexus 9000, Nexus 2000, Nexus 5000)
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF), Redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP); Knowledge of Cisco routing/switching including Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, XR and NX-OS
  • Hands on and troubleshooting experience on Nexus Network
  • Knowledge on various DC Architecture (DC-DR, Active-Active DC etc.)
  • SD-WAN (Silver Peak product experience will be an added advantage)
  • Excellent knowledge about principles of operation and configuration of LAN/WAN services: Switching, Routing, Network security, IPsec, VPN, DMVPN, DHCP, LOGGING, SNMP, RADIUS, VLAN (802.1q)
  • Flexible to work in 24/7 support environment.
  • Should have sound knowledge to manage both perimeter as well as internal Networks
  • Should be able to assess new solution from network point of view and suggest appropriate solution as per Timken global network requirement
  • Strong listening abilities, and excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally
  • Demonstrating advanced collaboration and interpersonal abilities
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to drive self and others to deadlines and tangible deliverables on-time and on-budget
  • Good understanding of Disaster recovery and Disaster recovery test processes.
