Purpose: The Sales Engineer manages commercial activities and customer relationships to drive sales and business growth. This role requires cross-functional collaboration and strong leadership skills to maintain customer satisfaction and develop growth strategies. This role is essential for maintaining and growing Timken's Aerospace business by leveraging technical expertise, market knowledge, and strong customer relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales process for assigned accounts or territory.
  • Develop and execute customer growth strategies and proposals.
  • Foster and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Lead customer negotiations and pricing strategies.
  • Deliver impactful customer presentations on Timken capabilities and solutions.
  • Collaborate with Customer Engineering on complex system analyses.
  • Utilize CRM for sales planning and market knowledge submission.
  • Optimize call plans and multi-task priorities in a dynamic environment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record in customer management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong commercial and technical skills with industry experience.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for business planning and strategy development.
  • Experience in managing complex aerospace proposals and contracts.
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.


  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence and drive results.
  • Experience in developing long-term customer relationships and partnerships.
  • Capability to manage customer proposals and ensure compliance and profitability.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues and improve customer collaboration.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Minimum three years Aerospace market experience or related experience in mobile equipment and heavy industries such as metals and power generation. 
  • Strong understanding of the Aerospace & Defense industry and Government Defense programs and contracting experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in customer business management, program management, sales & marketing or strategic partnering, preferably in an Aerospace environment
