We engineer solutions that keep the world moving by offering products and services to keep the world’s equipment, machinery and vehicles in motion.  Working closely with our sister companies in the Power Systems division of Timken, Standard Machine, is a custom job shop with in-house capabilities for complete power transmissions projects; milling, turning, gear cutting, gear grinding, induction hardening, and carburization, fabrication, mechanical and engineering.  

 

We are currently seeking a Machinist specializing in the programing and operation of large horizontal boring mills to join our team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive machining experience including setup and programming,
  • Capable of measuring parts up to 30 feet in length or diameter,
  • Systematic trouble shooting skills,
  • Proven ability to machine based on complex blue prints.
  • The ability to adapt to variety of process control situations as required.

 

Personal Aptitudes:

  • Capability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment,
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written,
  • Proven ability to organize and facilitate multiple projects in an accurate timely manner,
  • Team based history of exceeding goals.

 

The Job:

  • Operation of 50 tonne overhead cranes utilizing expert rigging techniques,
  • Pre-sequence inspection of all material and parts,
  • Efficient setup, programming and operation of CNC boring mills based on engineered drawings,
  • Loading & unloading material and parts for machining,
  • Completion of in-process inspections according to ISO and Quality Assurance standards,
  • Documentation of sequence processes and required manufacturing documentation.

 

Competencies:

        Work Experience and Job Skills:             

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum five years of programming and operating large boring mills in a job shop environment,

       Academic, technical and professional competence:

  • Qualified candidates will be a Journeyman Machinist or have equivalent experience working in a similar environment.

 

(Applicants must be Permanent Residents or Citizens of Canada, provide proof of all relevant qualifications and be available to participate in a pre-employment testing and a Controlled Goods Security Assessment.)
