Position Purpose:

 

This position performs maintenance work requests, planned maintenance activities and solves equipment breakdowns, not handled by the equipment operators. Provides support for changes to existing equipment or the introduction of new equipment. Carries out a pre-planned Preventive Maintenance program on plant, building and facility assets and key equipment. Executes the tasks defined in the Maintenance Department to ensure that there is minimal downtime, either through planned preventive maintenance or through the effective use of resources so that unscheduled breakdowns have minimal disruption to operations

 

The Facilities Mechanic follows the instructions of the Maintenance Supervisor (i.e. motivated, developed, managed, evaluated, etc.) executes day-to-day operations of the department in optimal manner, uses effectively the resources of the company, complies optimal following of safety and environmental standards, complies predictive and preventative maintenance programs, and executes repairs, modifications and upgrades on all the facility assets and equipment that provides energy and supplies to the production line assets. The team of Facilities Mechanic, Mechanical Maintenance Operators and Electrical Maintenance Operators, guided by the Maintenance Supervisor supports the continuous improvement and success of daily manufacturing operations. Regular contact with Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors and Process Engineers is critical.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintains a system to carry out planned preventive and predictive maintenance on plant, building and facility equipment, including diagnostic tools, tests and assessments
  • Identify and maintain a Maintenance stores system for all key machine/equipment spares and consumables  
  • Operates plant equipment that provides energy and supplies to production lines, such as air compressors, lighting panels, Reverse Osmosis plant, water supply equipment, purified water equipment, wastewater treatment plant, oil filtration equipment, plant ventilation systems, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and fire prevention systems
  • Performs mechanical installations in buildings such as compressed air, water or sanitary pipes.
  • Maintains facility assets and perform tasks including troubleshooting on utilities such as natural gas, water supply, drinking water, reverse osmosis and wastewater, compressed air, facility ventilation system. Maintains and repair kitchen equipment. Performs periodic inspections in fire protection systems and emergency systems.
  • Maintain and repair buildings and facilities, including sanitary facilities, floors, walls, ceilings, windows and doors, tasks may include arc welding, silver and tin welding for copper pipes or adhesives for PVC piping.
  • Team Participation: routine involvement with a variety of plant teams focused on continuous improvement.
