What is the Sales Engineering Development Program?

Timken is looking for talented, outgoing and highly energetic Engineers who want a challenging and rewarding career. The Sales Engineering Development program will allow you to get out from behind the desk and apply your technical knowledge and expertise to solve our customer’s problems every day.


The development program starts with a comprehensive 6-month training program based in our World Headquarters in North Canton, Ohio. Through classroom and on-the-job training, you will be exposed to all aspects of Timken’s Bearing and Power Transmission businesses, Timken’s operating philosophies, our customer’s application as well as finance and value selling techniques. You will become the expert in the technical and commercial skills required to solve customer problems. Our training program is one of the most respected in the industry and prepares you for future success.


Upon completion of the training program, you will be placed into one of our sales offices or territories within the United States. You will be given responsibility for a portfolio of business accounts where you will leverage your technical and commercial expertise to recognize customer needs and solve challenges by offering Timken capabilities, products and services.

Are You up for the Opportunity?


We are looking for December 2022 or May 2023 graduates with the following background and experience:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering degree
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Prior Engineering internships/co-ops highly preferred
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through academic, extra-curricular, military service or employment experiences
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be open to relocation
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
