The operations manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire manufacturing process at the San Jose Iturbide Plant, directing 6 supervisors and approximately 175 associates. Specifically, this position is expected to achieve all the operational goals set forth in the yearly business plan and multi-year hoshin plan using Lean manufacturing tools. These goals include productivity, output, schedule accomplishment, and cost.  They are also responsible for the operations budget and the training and development of all production associates within the facility. This role will provide leadership for all plant activities associated with operations and lean manufacturing.  As an active member of the management team, they will provide input and have ownership for all plant operational issues.

  • Provide leadership directing manufacturing operations of the plant to create and maintain a competitive structure for the Mexico plant. This position manages all dayto-day requirements of the operational team including safety, quality, schedule alignment, manning considerations, and cost.
  • Report to plant and senior management on the performance of operations.
  • Talent Management: Provide leadership and direction to associates including development of a highperformance team, talent & succession plan development (TMP), performance management, coaching, mentoring, training, resource/business planning, standards and processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring that safety policies are effective and followed by all operations associates.
  • Ensures that quality process is understood and followed by all operations associates.  Responsible to ensure that the operations team is following quality procedures in all processes and inspections.
  • Instill lean thinking and a continuous improvement culture in the operations team and all direct operational associates. This includes training and implementation of the Timken Manufacturing Operations System (TMOS) and kaizen activities.
  • Drive productivity improvements necessary to maintain competitive labor costs at budgeted levels.
  • Manage the ordering process and budget control for all MRO materials required to run the daily operations. This includes developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and purchasing.
  • Identify and implement yearon-year cost reductions in labor and MRO materials required to operate the facility.
  • Responsible for the yearly operational manning plan that is matched to the yearly load placed upon the plant as determined by the SIOP process. Ensure that the plant capacity tables for both equipment and manned capacity are accurate and updated.
  • Facilitate the implementation of lean manufacturing flow projects to minimize customer lead time.

Improve the skills and knowledge of all direct associates within the plant by ensuring all yearly required training is completed accurately and in a timely manner. This includes all requirements for safety and environmental items as directed for compliance.
